The Lada Niva (VAZ 2121) pictured in Viljandi Estonia in 2007. The Niva is a Russian off road car built by AutoVAZ. The Niva, introduced 1977, was Lada´s first car not based on a Fiat model. The production continued throughout the years with only some minor changes. Chevrolet Niva, a modernized Lada Niva was launched in 2003 by GM-AvtoVAZ, a joint venture between AutoVAZ and General Motors.

Lada (or should we say "Žiguli") deserves the tag as a people's car in Russia and ex-Soviet Union. Lada 1600 (VAZ-2106), introduced in 1976, was an updated version of Lada 1500 (VAZ-2103). This Lada 1600 was pictured in Ventspils Latvia in 2007.
